Description: A federal returning officer (RO) administers federal electoral events in the riding to which they are appointed. The Chief Electoral Officer appoints federal ROs, and they report to him.

Key activities

plans and organizes the delivery of access to voting
manages and controls financial, material, and human resources
in their electoral district, administers the Canada Elections Act, Referendum Act and related legislation such as the Official Languages Act and the Financial Administration Act

communicates information to the public, candidates, political parties, field liaison officers, and Elections Canada
contributes to the improvement of the electoral process

Pay

$445.29 per month (before the election period); $23,322.04 (during election period)
